The Shenandoah Valley Meat Processing Cooperative will be a transformative project aimed at establishing a state-of-the-art meat processing facility in Page County, Virginia. It represents a significant opportunity for economic growth and diversification in our region by enhancing local food production and processing capabilities. By addressing critical bottlenecks in the aging, storage, and fabrication processes that currently hinder existing facilities, the project aims to triple the region’s cattle processing capacity.
The GO Virginia Region 8 planning grant funds will go towards:
- Research and Develop the Most Effective Structure and Governance for the Cooperative
- Identify and Develop Partner Relationships for Uncompleted Processing Steps
- Develop Legal Agreements for Public-Private Partnership
- Research and Develop Facility Design Specifications
- Develop a Sustainability Strategy for Future Funding and Growth
